The a la carte section boasts unique offerings like the Birria Plate, complete with all the essentials to create a comforting and authentic meal. For those looking for something a little different, the popular jalapeno poppers, served with creamy ranch, create the perfect appetizer to kick off your meal.
While the food shines at Abelardo's, the ambiance captures the charm of a casual diner. Many diners have shared their experiences, praising the birria tacos and searching for favorites among the various burrito options. For instance, one patron mentioned that the carne asada burrito transported them back to San Diego—a testament to the authenticity present in their dishes.
However, not every experience has been seamless. A few reviewers voiced concerns about order accuracy and wait times, hinting that efficiency could be improved. Yet, these minor hiccups do not overshadow the overall quality of the food, which has received much praise for its taste and freshness. Abelardo's has the potential to become a go-to spot for a satisfying meal, especially for those on the road.
Whether you’re seeking a quick stop for lunch or a leisurely Dinner, Abelardo's Mexican Fresh in Missouri Valley invites you to enjoy the flavors of Mexico in a relaxed setting. So go ahead, indulge in the vibrant offerings that await you!
“ This place looks like a typical fast food joint but its definitely legit. The queso Birria tacos with consume are super good and the adabada tacos with the green sauce is also very good. Definitely worth the stop easy off on to the I-29. ”
“ Tried the Texas rice bowl and within an hour I turned the bathroom into a hazmat scene 3 times. I'll stick to the breakfast options. ”
“ Absolutely delicious! The perfect spot to take a break and eat yummy food! I highly recommend their birria tacos, wow! ”
“ Stopped here after visiting DeSoto Wildlife Refuge. The carne asada burrito was excellent. Took me back to my San Diego life. The Taco Tuesday special was an incredible value for $6.99. Clean and pleasing atmosphere. Great place to stop while traveling I29. ”
“ When I travel, I like to stop at places I haven't eaten before. I had a hankering for Tex-Mex, so we decided to stop at Abelardo's. There were so many menu options, it was difficult for everyone in my party to figure out what they wanted wild standing at the counter. The menu seemed as large and complex as those at most sit-down Mexican restaurants. Having a printed form of the menu for us to browse would have been a big plus. I love spicy food, so I was excited when I saw a poster for the Diablo burrito in the window. Unfortunately, the only thing spicy about that burrito was the hot sauce I placed on it. It was quite underwhelming. My wife ordered a carnitas quesadilla. The menu listed it as containing pork, but what she received was beef. My son ordered fajitas, and his meal arrived on a large platter, something I would expect in a sit-down Mexican restaurant. His portion was huge, and he wasn't able to finish it all, despite being a big, hungry 18-year-old. Our other child wanted a chicken bowl, but said "carnitas bowl" when they ordered. I corrected them immediately, and told the staff that they wanted chicken. The staff assumed that meant they wanted a carnitas bowl with added chicken. I feel bad for the individual who is working. I'm not sure if he was the only one there, or if anyone else was back in the kitchen. Though the property looks like a fast food restaurant, there was no "fast" in this fast food. Our meals came out to the table one at a time over a period of 5 to 7 minutes, starting about 10 minutes after ordering. When our food was brought to the table, another individual, who ordered after we did, asked the employee if he remembered he wanted his order to go, not for dine-in. The impression I got was that he was a little disappointed with the time it was taking as well. The impression I got from Abelardo's Mexican Fresh is that it is somewhere between a traditional sit-down Mexican restaurant and a Taco Bell. The food was good enough, but not memorable. We may try this chain, or even this location, again someday just to see if we had an isolated bad experience. Unfortunately, until then I can give it no more than three stars. ”
“ When we go to Omaha, this is our must stop for lunch. I was so Happy they moved one to Missouri Valley!!! I always have the #11 very reasonably price and food is amazing. ”
